Ali Fedotowsky and The Five Best Dates in America

Tuesday, September 04 2012

Our Favorite Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky, now scours the country in search of the best places for food and fun on her show 1st Look. She took the time to share with us some of the best dating destinations all over the country.

Chicago
Speakeasies & Artisan Cocktails: This trend is huge in Chicago right now, and these are really great date spots. Bars like UNTITLED give cocktails the same attention to detail as a four star restaurant. One popular drink is the Wisteria, served bols genever, lavender, egg white and black cardamon. The drinks are so interesting, they provide excellent topics of conversation – in case your date’s discussion falls flat. If you don’t live in Chicago—this is a good tip. Look for places with unusual menus and drinks to keep the conversation going.

Los Angeles
Food Truck Fare: Food trucks are popping up all over the nation, but Los Angeles remains the food truck capitol. There are trucks that specialize in every kind of food imaginable – and not only are they more affordable than eating out at a restaurant, but in a lot of cases, the quality is just as good. You might associate food trucks with grabbing a bite for lunch, but they also make a great dating destination. On certain nights, lots of different trucks will gather in one spot and it’s a great way to sample a variety of foods from around the world. Grab what you want, then find your own little picnic spot. Romantic and stress free, because it doesn’t take much planning ahead. Plus you’re walking and talking and it takes the pressure off. Here’s a tip for people who don’t live in a food truck city— look for dates that are active and provide options, like a boardwalk or make it progressive date: appetizers at one restaurant, dinner at another, dessert at a third!

Dallas
Pop-Up Beer Gardens: In Texas, both men and women like their beer. POP- UP BEER GARDENS are also a great date night option. They usually reveal their location 24-hours in advance on Facebook or Twitter, and the bars – which also specialize in unique beers – are usually cash only. These pop-up venues feel exclusive because you need to be on the lookout to catch them because they literally pop up one night, and may be gone the next. Here’s a tip for folks who don’t live in Dallas, do a little research! There are online deals on services like Groupon that offer exclusive limited time deals in your area that are equally exclusive.

Miami
Late Night Bites: People in Miami like to party and they like to party LATE. Your date can continue all night because there are great spots open until 5am. THE CORNER offers late night treats like deviled eggs and smoky weenies…and was rated by the Miami Times as the “Best Place to Meet Single Women 2012” so you may be able to meet someone there if you don’t have a date. For those daters who are not in Miami, think outside the box. You don’t have to be traditional and start a date at 8:00. You can have breakfast, brunch or even catch a midnight movie in your town.

New York
A Night In: New Yorkers are always on the go, and instead of trying to fight your way into the newest trendy restaurant – why not really relax and escape the bustle of the city by creating the perfect date at home. A great thing about New York is that abundance of specialty wine, cheese, and food stores in every neighborhood. They offer the latest culinary finds and almost everywhere delivers! This dating trend is sort of a take on the popular “staycation,” vacations. You can easily turn this kind of date into a party for two, as opposed to it feeling like there is serious romantic pressure – unless that’s what you’re going for.
